Queen Majesty

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re showcasing an awesome local business owned and operated right here in NYC by the queen of hot sauce — Queen Majesty! Here they are, in their own words!

Our sauces are handmade in Queens, New York City, without sugar, xantham gum, or preservatives. Our original and award-winning recipes honor the flavor of the hot peppers by combining them with fresh ingredients like garlic, bell peppers, real citrus juice, and extra virgin olive oil.

Beyond taste, Queen Majesty sauces are certified kosher, vegan, gluten-free, and non-gmo making them accessible for a wide range of dietary preferences. And because we make our sauce ourselves in NYC, we can ensure our team is happy and that you receive our highest quality standard.

small-batch, 100% woman-owned, self-funded hot sauce company sold internationally and going strong for over 12 years? In this economy? We attribute our success to our wonderful customers telling their friends and family about us, and for their continued support. We are so grateful 💛

We believe in supporting fellow small businesses and giving back to our community. Two of our favorite NYC-based organizations to work with are Hunger Free America – a nonpartisan, national nonprofit group working to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that ALL Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food, and One Love Community Fridge – an integrated, mulit-generational, and inclusive movement that centers access to fresh foods, nutrition education, and sustainability.

This is everything the co-op believes in, too! Come support them and add a little spice to your day, too, by picking up a supremely delish bottle or two of their Jalapeno, Tequila & Lime or Scotch Bonnet & Ginger hot sauce with their delightful hand-drawn labels! Hooray!

Gotham Greens

Have you tried the super delish vegan pesto we carry at the co-op?  This comes from Gotham Greens, an urban agriculture initiative that started out in a greenhouse on a rooftop in Greenpoint — right here in Brooklyn!

Gotham Greens has a truly inspiring story that fully complements our goals at the coop!  The initiative began with a few intrepid folks rethinking the relationship between high quality food, environmental sustainability, and urban environments.  Their unique solution?  Repurposing rooftops to grow produce hydroponically!  In this way, they contribute to the communities in which they’re based while also challenging the status quo and imagining new possibilities for food production, consumption, and all the variables in between.  Their farming methods use minimal resources, their greenhouses are powered by solar and wind energy, and their products are distributed locally, further reducing their environmental impact.  We’re excited to support them and get the word out about them, and we hope you are, too!
